Ayurvedic Consultation

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient science of healing and wellness from India that is over 5,000 years old. It is referred to as "The science of life."

According to Vedic texts, all matter is created from a combination of the five elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. These elements combine to create the three Doshas or mind/body types within each of us. These doshas are Vata (space & air), Pitta (fire & water), and Kapha (water & earth). These Doshas are intelligences that work together to create balance in all things.

Each Dosha has specific qualities we use to identify them. We can identify them in each phase of life, season, time of the day, menstrual cycle phase, food, environment, mind, and body. When specific qualities are present in one of these areas of our life, it increases those qualities within us. When there is an excess or depletion of these qualities or Doshas, an imbalance can occur. Ayurveda looks at the individual and the qualities and Doshas present in and around them to create changes that support balance.
